LEBANON: لج تلج فيروز- (Talj Talj) - Fairuz
Whilst much of the Arab world do not have a notable celebration during the festive season due to their Muslim faith, one can often forget the region also is residence to those of other faiths including Bahá’i, Druze, and Christians. Lebanese superstar Fairuz is of the Eastern Orthodox Christian faith, which is not a total surprise as Lebanon has one of the highest populations of Christians living in the Arab World. Her cover of the song Talj Talj is an Arab Christmas carol is about snow and the nativity story. It’s a deeply religious song that reflect the nature of the community from which she comes.
